I recently bought a new Sony Ericsson w580i Cell phone. The first impressions of the phone were good until I tried to put in the Sim card and close the battery door. I had a little difficulty trying to close the battery door (It took me almost 5 mins trying not to damage the phone). Well, the scary part was over, right?
Well, no. After a day, I needed to open the battery cover to take out the Sim card. Well, how tough can it be? VERY VERY tough. I spent 1 hour trying to open it "gently". My patience ran out after 1 hr and I started using all my force, but still nothing after two hours. So, then I sat down and searched online for an answer -- There were couple of questions where people commented on how hard is it to open the battery door of w580i but no solutions. Finally, I came across a review which suggested using a knife (ouch!) to open the door. So, after I found out a better way to open it without the risk of damaging it, I decided to post it here so others can (hopefully) find this solution when searching.
You will need a rubber/latex glove (I used the cheap ones you get at Walmart for house cleaning). Put the phone face down on a soft surface (so as not to damage the screen while applying pressure). Now, put on the glove on your hand and apply a little bit of pressure on the battery cover (your thumb should be resting on the "Sony Ericsson" text and pointing towards the green Sony Ericsson logo). Now push the battery cover downwards and it should open up without the need of excessive pressure.

Although this is highly unlikely, I do not take any responsibility of any damage that might occur to your phone by following my advise
